Middletown’s Joey Logano qualified the Team Penske No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion in the ninth position for Sunday’s Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

After taking the lead halfway through the race, Ledyard’s Allen Coates never looked back en route to his first New England Truck Series win in 2014. Allen joins son Corey as one of five winners in five NETS events this season. Chris Correll followed Coates through early traffic to finish second. Corey Coates led early in the event but faded to third at the finish, followed by defending series champion Duane Noll and Andy Lindeman. Continue reading

Logano won last year’s Pure Michigan 400, notching his first Sprint Cup Series win for Team Penske. Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) celebrated the Soft Opening of its 1.7 mile road course this past weekend, June 6-8, thanks to the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). The event marked the first time that race cars put wheels down on the new pavement of the road course, and there were smiles all around as racers welcomed having another track to race on in the New England region.
